Goblins are fickle creatures, the smallest and most unique Orcish sub-race. Their meager strength and size sets a peculiar dynamic within the War Uzg, an entire bloodthirsty subrace of Goblins lacking the strength to often succeed in direct conflict has warranted Goblins to instead use their extraordinary intelligence to construct machines of war and tinkered tools to aid their brethren and themselves in battle. Often bullied by their kin due to their lack of strength, the ever-resilient Goblins stand stalwart with their kin, aiding in the Uzg's otherwise cumbersome wars with their grand assistance through crafts of war.

This is not to say Goblins do not battle in wars, while the weakest, Goblins are no less bloodthirsty than their kin and revel in the heat of battle with their brethren; though their lack of size usually displaces them to the backline.

Physical Attributes

The smallest of the Orcish subraces, Goblins often range from heights of 4'0 - 6'0 feet. This, coupled with their usual thin frame gives them their apt reputation as the weakest of the Orcish subraces, often lacking defined muscles or inherent strength. However, this is not to imply they are weak in comparison to the other races. Even though Goblins are as tall and as strong as Humans, though genetically disadvantaged; should a Goblin not meet the standard of strength within the War Uzg they are often culled for their weakness as it is Orcish tradition. Their skin tone ranges between shades of red, blue, and green, and their jaws are often the least pronounced of the races, possessing the smallest tusks of their kin.

Other Attributes

Goblins redeem their weakness with their inherent savviness in tinkering, especially in the creation of war machines and explosives. This stems from their expanded intelligence, awarding the Orcs and the Uzg a superior edge in war, possessing both brute force, and clever crafting from the backline Goblins. However, Goblins still possess the racial bloodlust their brethren carry, and will fight in most wars, though often avoid the frontline due to their small size.

Aging

The average lifespan of a Goblin around the same as an Uruk, though they fall often in less than 200 years due to their constant involvement in war. Dying outside of combat (such as dying of old age or disease) is the most disgraceful fate that could befall a Goblin, or any Orc for that matter. As a result many Goblins assure they die in combat by always fighting. Due to this, there have been few cases of Goblins succumbing to old age, those disgraced Goblins dying at approximately 500 years old.

Curses

Like its kin, the Goblins descended from Krug, whom was mutilated and cursed by the Arch-Daemon Iblees. After his fight and defeat against Iblees, his form was burnt by his flame and his skin scarred. This caused his pigment to change green, and develop into different colours in later generations due to genetic mutation. He was cursed to have tusks emerging from his mouth, and to appear as an abomination; as well, he was cursed with bloodlust, forever seeking carnage and warfare.

Culture

The Goblins, in fellowship with their Orcish brethren are led by their Rex, an Orc whom acts as a ruling warlord to the Orcish people, leading them in their wars, and guiding them through times of peace. Many Goblins also belong to an Orcish clan, though many remain clanless.

Art

Goblins make little in ways of traditional art though they often create masterpieces of redstone at their tinker posts, marvels for their fellow Goblins. Beyond this, the construction of a new War Machine is often seen as the creation of a great piece of art, often spurring many Goblins to cooperate together to construct an immaculate machine of death; evoking the awe of their brethren.

Literature

Goblins, alongside their Uruk brethren often prefer to maintain stories through oral tradition, resulting in little Goblin literature emerging from the subrace. However, Goblins have been known to write detailed blueprints for their hopeful projects, and short guides on their hobbies, such as tinkering.

Music

Goblins are often enlisted in combat to blow the war horn, signalling the charge of the Orcs during the battle, and play the war drums, as Goblins are the only subrace capable of playing either for some time without causing their destruction from overbearing strength.

Religion

Goblins, alongside their brethren worship the Spirits. Their practice of Shamanism can often become quite involved, leading them to becoming trained Shamans with aid from their natural intelligence. However, that is not to say all Goblins are so devote, some Goblins, while acknowledging the Spirits, prefer to focus on their tinkering than their piety.

Cities

Goblins rarely settle outside of the Capital of the War Uzg, though there have been times where Goblin settlements have appeared across the Uzg. These Goblin cities are often subterranean, reducing the chance any outside threat may discover and try to attack them whilst they work, building their machines of war or readying and crafting any number of explosives to be used in upcoming battles. These cities are kept quite tidy in contrast to the usual layout of Orcish cities, efficiently outlined and planned by the Goblins themselves.

Random Tidbits

  • Goblins are the shortest and naturally weakest of their kin.
  • Most cities and camps of Orcs are planned entirely by Goblins before being constructed by Uruks and Ologs.
  • On a different note, did you know: Goblins are often viewed as the parallel opposites of Ologs? Find out more here!: Ologs
