The Medri Negasi of Seyam ((Common: The King's Land of Seyam)), more colloquially referred to as 'Seyam', is an independent nation formed on the island of Arcas in the Korvassan desert region. It was formed in 1737 by Erasto; the only son of Kalfu, and the state has since been considered, similar to one of its predecessor states, as the suzerain-state of the Southeron. It’s capital, the Rajdom of Thyra, has been referred to previously as the ‘Jewel of the Desert’ and is currently the largest and undoubtedly most illustrious city within the Korvassan desert - as well as being the home of The Jyoist Church of Thyra. The House of Sulyné has riddled the state insignia with suggestive serpentine symbols.

Government

The Medri Negasi of Seyam holds a government form called a ‘Consulate Monarchy’ - meaning that it is a state ruled by a monarch whose power can be checked by a council of three dubbed the ‘Jassinissa’. Though, this does not negate the fact that the Suldaan’s power goes unrivaled by each independent member. Each Jassinissa heads over a domain, each with their own unique roles.

Jassinissa

The Jassinissa is the everlasting Crown Council of the Medri Negasi, put in place during the reign of the first Negus of Ghanyah 1637. The Jassinissa has been established as the administrative council of the Suldaan, assisting him in leading the nation efficiently, providing him advice, checking his power when needed and providing to the state through their own administrative duties. The Jassinissa and its members are the only people in the Medri Negasi who may speak in the name of the Suldaan. The Jassinissa holds three members, the Enderase[Advisor-Regent], the Meridazmach[Advising Commander], and the Taezaz[Chancellor] who each have their own administrative powers and duties that assist the nation in progressing - none of them hold administrative power over one another, unless during times of regency whereas the Advisor-Regent shall ascend in position. The Jassinissa are allowed to hold land and lead Houses. These ranks become hereditary, lasting even if a Suldaan dies - they can only be removed by a vote, between the other two council-members and the Suldaan. These roles can also be challenged by another House in which a skirmish shall take place.

Enderase

The job of the Enderase is to serve as second-in-command of all affairs including diplomacy behind a regnant Ruler, to act as the Designated Regent should the nation require Regency, to advise a Ruler on all necessary affairs, to assist in state-hood correspondence, to listen to and translate all diplomatic offers, and to ensure the Jassinissa actively communes. The Enderase heads over the Domain of Expedience, Espionage, and the Economy - and as such, the roles under this domain are barely known, aside from the more diplomatic roles such as Consul.

Meridazmach

The job of the Meridazmach is to serve as the direct leader of all military-based affairs. Their primary job is to defend the state, to lead the Seyami guard in and out of war, to advise the Ruler on strategy and advancement, protect a Ruler and his/her interests through combat, and to enforce martial law in the nation if necessary. he Meridazmach usually works with the Chancellor to quell all rebellions and ensure domestic peace in the Seyami state should the military be required for that. The Meridazmach heads over the Domain of Conflict and Control.

Taezzaz

The job of the Taezaz is to serve as the Prime Enforcer of Law and Justice. Their job is to act as the primary leader in trials under our jurisdiction, to quell corruption within our grand state, to actively survey the competence of all lands under Seyami Jurisdiction, to inform the Suldaan and Jassinissa of all troubles and/or reliefs the citizenry may go through, to ease domestic tension, to provide housing and citizenship to qualified inquirers, and to ensure that this law codex remains updated with each necessary change, but remains in the best interest of the Medri Negasi and all of its citizenry. The Taezzaz heads over the Domain of Communion and the Chancery.

Trade

The main exports of Seyam are textile, glass, agriculture, medicine, sand, and venom; serpents being a culturally important animal within the nation, many have taken to the dangerous art of farming such creatures for their scales and venom - and many have died attempting such. This means, however, that Seyami medicine is especially adept in treating venom.

Inheritance Legend

The Medri Negasi of Seyam adheres to a hereditary agnatic-cognatic primogeniture succession, meaning that the oldest male descendant of a ruler shall inherit all titles upon a Suldaan’s death - if the oldest male descendant is not apparent, then the oldest female descendant shall inherit. Inheritance can be manipulated by a seignorial disownment, if the Suldaan decides another is more capable than his blood-right heir, or if any religious vows are taken that’d prevent bequeathment.
